Eisenia fetida or the Red wiggler earthworm. These little guys are a must for your compost. Burrowing 24 hours a day they provide aeration and mitigate smells by helping to prevent compost piles from going anaerobic. Also, natural burrowing will spread beneficial bacteria speeding up the decomposition process. You will receive compost containing live worms and eggs in various sizes and life stages from tiny hatchlings to adults including eggs. Only need a few and you will have thousands in a well-maintained compost. I have had these worms in my compost for 20+ years so they are winter hardy. Good feeding with lots of kitchen waste will keep them happy and healthy. Seasonal
